Alicia Z. Aguirre, a native of Mexico fluent in Spanish and a lifelong resident of Yuma, Arizona, received her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Management in 1993 from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She subsequently received her Master’s degree in Business Administration from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1998.
After a twenty-year career as a Health Records Administrator for a major medical facility, Alicia attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California where she received her Juris Doctorate in 2001. Following an association with a well-known Yuma law firm, Alicia began her private practice in Yuma’s historic downtown representing a wide variety of clients in the Yuma area in matters ranging from large commercial disputes to dissolution and family law matters. Alicia has also conducted numerous administrative trials representing clients before various tribunals.
Alicia’s practice areas include corporate/business law, commercial transactions, domestic relations/family law, civil litigation/trials, arbitration/mediation, employment law and administrative law.
In the area of arbitration/mediation, Alicia has received over forty hours of formal training, including completion of the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine University School of Law, among other such formal training.
In terms of community involvement, Alicia has volunteered with the Adult Literacy Program in Yuma that provides pro-bono legal services for the Community Justice Boards of the Greater Yuma Area. Alicia also serves on a number of non-profit/not-for-profit boards in the Yuma area. Further, Alicia has served on the City of Yuma Arts and Culture Commission and currently serves on the City of Yuma Census 2010 Complete Count Committee. She is also an Instructor in the paralegal study program at Arizona Western College.
